My name is Steven Antholis and I thank you for making it here.
I've been carving spoons by hand since 2018 and turning bowls and cups on the spring pole lathe since 2022. My journey began on a winter day taught by friends how to carve a spoon with an axe and a knife. Then, the introduction of the book Country Woodcraft by Drew Langsner solidified the devotion to this craft and these skills. So much of my process is focusing on the use of hand tools. Most of my primary shaping is with a carving axe, followed by an array of tools, new and restored, and tools I've forged myself. Both carving and turning are very physical but highly rewarding. I love creating useable objects for the table. I've worked as a farmer, a cook and a designer, and to complete the meal with wooden wares just makes the pleasure of eating that much more satisfying. I hope you get to enjoy many meals with my tableware.
